Lesson 07

Defending


 If one of your pieces is attacked you have to know how the piece can be defended. There are at least 4 possible ways to escape capture:

  1. Moving away
  2. Protecting
  3. Taking the attacker
  4. Interposing

Eg: 

Re2 (Moving away) Bc3 or Bc1 (Protecting) Rxd5 (Taking the attacker) Bd4 (Interposing)
